Camp Life...The Dollar Swim

Another tradition we have up to camp is the girls' annual dollar swim. From our little island to another larger island is the distance of about a quarter of a mile. For a couple little girls it seems like forever. But every year they don their life jackets and swimsuits and set off on this grand adventure. In between these two islands hides a giant rock that I used to stand on when I was their age. Part of earning their dollar means they must first locate this rock and then stand and pose for pictures. It sometimes is an all-morning event just to find the rock. And ever year I end up paddling out to show them the way. This year was no different. Lexi, however, thinks she is too little for so great a task. So we have to find other somewhat difficult task for her to do. This year her challenge was to catch a crayfish. All by herself. Which she successfully accomplished.
These girls...they'll do anything for a buck.
