The tail end of our vacation we were blessed with the company of good friends. Since they are also technically family, they have enjoyed a few summer vacations at the family camp as well. So, we strategically, yet spontaneously planned our vacations to overlap. And what glorious fun ensued! Our blended families enjoyed...
- Tubing on the lake. No children were dumped, drowned or terrified. For the most part.
- Boating 'round the islands. In search of big fish. Which apparently was elusive or on vacation themselves. Somehow poor Kevin was unable to leave the dock without a boat load of children in tow. Bless his heart.
- Fishing. Lots and lots of fishing. Although nothing edible was caught. But thankfully no children cast lures into one another. I'm really unsure how we escaped that fiasco.
- Campfire s'mores. Where we were introduced to the concept of peanut butter. And we've not gone back to plain ol' s'mores yet. Muchos gracias, Kevy. We're totally moving up a level to peanut butter cups next time...Mmmmm! Oh, and the double decker/layered s'more idea? Totally going to try it.
- Canoe ride through the bog. Where Jesse-Bear was determined to tip the canoe. Unintentionally, of course. And no moose were present. Despite Miss Amy's awesomely articulate moose call. (Have you forgiven us for laughing, yet? In our defense, it was our first time hearing such utterings. Other than my familiar groanings during the natural birth of our three children...it slightly resembled that.)
- Crayfish hunting. Endless hours of it. These boys are good at catching crayfish..and I do mean good. When they first arrived at camp, before we even had a chance to unload Kevin's boat these fellas were knee-high in water with nets. They're professionals.
- And this one? Well, this one just made me smile. I thought it was so cute...Kaytlin and Kaden out in a canoe one morning, quietly determined to catch us some fish. They reminded me of a little old married couple. Wishful thinking? Indeed. No fish that day...but they did manage to catch their lure on a nice big rock.
Ahhh. The besty best of times, eh? SUCH fun!! My boys still talk about how cool your girls are, because, they're - like - girls, but they do boy things! ha!
