Five Months

Five whole months have gone by since we welcomed our sweet baby boy joys into the world. They have changed and grown so incredibly much in those past five months. They have brought unique balance, complete chaos and utter joy to our home. I love watching our girls with them. Seldom do they walk by those boys without making a face, speaking a little "hello", or throwing out a smile. Which is almost always returned back by the little guys. They adore their big sisters. We were at Walmart yesterday and I carried Chase in a Snuggly on my chest. I could barely get anything accomplished, for Lexi was directly in front of me every step I took, making faces at Chase. It was slightly annoying...but in a cute sort of way.
Both boys are doing wonderful. Still sleeping through the night (hallelujah!!!) and growing great. Their morning starts anywhere from 6:00-7:00 and they crash at night around 7:00-7:30. They seem to do great being on the same schedule still. They nap, wake, eat, and oftentimes even poo at the same time! In case you were wondering. The fellas are super droolers now, and I have a feeling the appearance of teeth is just around the corner. Their newest favorite toys include their hands and their tongues. They're beginning to grab at things, and their little tongues are constantly moving about in and out of their mouths. Every milestone one accomplishes, you can be sure that within a week the other is doing the same thing. Monkey see-monkey do, perhaps.
Last week I attempted their first haircuts. Both were getting a little scraggly with old growth and new growth of hair, so it was time to even them up.

Ever since then, we have found ourselves momentarily getting them mixed up. Just for a few seconds, though. After watching their expressions for a moment it really isn't hard to tell them apart. And I've only put them in the wrong cribs once. I figured out my blunder after they woke up. We all find it comical. Should be rather fun as they get older. :-)

 

Chase. Sweet, spunky Chase.

 He cracks us up, that boy. He's a wild child, but seems to have a sensitive side as well. Loves to smile and laugh, and is unreserved about giving away his joy. His new thing within the past month is sitting up straight like a big boy. He can't do it fully on his own yet, but whenever he's being held he wants to be upright. Chase is a strong fella and will pull himself to sitting (when laying down) by grabbing ahold of someone's hands. He has completed the task of rolling front to back and back to front as well. This little guy is determined to get up and go. Which I am in absolutely no rush for. He also has by far the best poochie lip known to man. If there's a loud, sudden noise his face turns instantly and pathetically sad. All us gals in the family go running to scoop him up. ("Sissy-fying", as Hubs so sweetly calls it.) He has quickly shifted places with Cody in becoming the most contented twin, and we all think it's due to one tiny little attachment on his hand..the thumb. This boy loves his thumb. Chase is a great eater and is presently up to fifteen pounds.

Cody. Laid back, cuddly Cody.

He's a bit different from his brother (of course). He tends to be a bit more reserved. It takes greater effort to get a full-bellied giggle from him. But for the most part he's a happy boy. Just slightly more serious. He seems to be a watcher more than participator. Taking life in rather than jumping into it full-force. Although at sixteen pounds he's a whole pound heavier than Chase, his muscle tone isn't nearly as good. He can roll over (and has in the past), but is just as content not to. He has begun to want to sit up straight like his brother, pulling his torso forward when being held. His newfound love? Food. He loves his cereal and will often whine in between every bite. He's a fabulous cuddler, but is equally content to sit and watch life from there.

 Yes, life here is busy and crazy at times. Often loud, frequently messy, slightly stinky, and somewhat cluttered. But I wouldn't trade it for the world.
