A Little Slice O' Heaven

We just returned from our annual summer vacation up to camp. A slice of heaven, indeed. Our own little private island for a week. No electricity, no fresh running water, no televisions, computers or internet. For one solid week it's just our big ol' family...together. I so look forward to this vacation every year. The solitude forces us to reconvene and reconnect as a family. The simplicity of life allows us time galore to focus on the little things. I. Adore. It.
Last year was a total bomb for this trip. The boys being only months old, they did not sleep well. Nor travel well. Mama did not cope well. So, after two never-ending days, we called it quits and retreated home. This year I chose to go with an optimistic outlook. No bottles to warm, no pumping to do...it just had to be better. Better it certainly was. Better than better. Super fantabulous better. Our week was spent....

Playing on the dock. In a dog pen. Because life with toddling twins is just easier that way.
 Sun bathing. Glorious.
Loon watching. With baby in tow.
 Splashing in the shallow waters.
Boat rides. Not the boys' favorite...but they will learn to love it.
 Ginormous frog-catching with Daddy.
Jumping off the dock.(And occasionally being pushed.)
The week was truly amazing. It was a week of deep introspection, reconnection, a healing rest, regaining focus and a gentle reminder of how blessed we are. Sometimes you just have to get away from the everyday modernness and live simply to truly slow and listen. This weary Mama's heart was filled. To the brim. This Wifey's spirit was encouraged. Renewed. This Child of God's soul was quieted. Restored.
Life. Is. Good.
